Now that I’ve finished painting my Execution Force box (that was fun!) I can at last focus on Space Hulk. As always, I forbid myself to play the game unless the minis are painted.

I realized such a policy makes me spend a hell lot of time painting rather than playing but I guess that’s because I really like that. Anyway. Let’s share some first pictures.

I started with the Terminators. I keep the heros for the very end, hence I’m focusing on the « regular » terminator first. I’ll do the two sergeants and the Psy to finish that session. Then I’ll move on the Genestealers.

The first terminator I did, more of a test miniature to experiment with the colors.

This one was rather quick to paint, but I really like the result. The green gems work great on the red armor.

To gain some time, I based the miniatures with a Red Dragon primer from Army Painter. This red is very close to Mephiston Red and is perfect to paint quickly the miniatures. The sequences is basically the following:

  • base the miniatures with Red Dragon primer
  • shade them with agrax earthshade (entirely)
  • edge-highlight the armor with Evil Sunz Scarlet and wild Rider Red
  • work on the details

This sequence is really nice, as you don’t have to spend one hour on basing the red with a brush, you very quickly have the feeling of effectiveness. I really like working on details, I think that’s the interesting part of painting miniatures.
